Morning Manna | Hope Seen Is Not Hope

I awakened with a question bubbling in my heart:

“Are you ready for your morning manna?”

“Yes!” I replied inside 🤗I was so excited that I opened the online One Year Bible on my phone instead of my well-worn, bound Bible.

Amazement settled over me as I read Nehemiah’s account of how the Israelites assembled before the Lord to hear His Words of instruction.

He writes that:

👉🏽“ALL the people assembled for a unified purpose” => they asked Ezra the priest & scribe to read the Book of the Law

👉🏽When they saw him open the book, they all stood in reverence & praised the Lord

👉🏽Ezra clearly explained what was being read so the people understood each passage

The people began to mourn as they learned about the faithFULness of their God & the faithLESSness of their forefathers.

The passage concludes with this:

“You sent your good Spirit to instruct them, & you did not stop giving them manna from heaven or water for their thirst.”

Y’all! I could write for days & am asking Holy Spirit to make this concise.

The root of “manna” literally means “whatness”.

My family is in a serious season of whatness right now. Markel & I are both in a career transition without an inkling of knowing what’s next.  We are trusting the Lord for His physical manna each morning.

Like the Israelites, we are also trusting Him for our spiritual manna, which can tangibly be found in His Word. Just like the Israelites who left their tent each morning, hoping that manna would be found on the ground before them, so it is with the Word of God.

If they tried to “save” manna for the next day, it would immediately rot. This taught them to place their hope solely on Jehovah Jireh, their provider God!

The Word is just like that manna...He is our Living Hope Who is waiting to give us fresh revelation day by day, manna for each morning.

Father, thank you for the reminder that hope seen is not hope. Let us not forsake assembling together for the unified purpose of girding ourselves with Hope by hearing Your Word.

We will not “count on our warhorse” to give us victory, but rather trust in our Living Hope Who provides our morning manna!
