We are created to become one with Christ & our future spouse, but what happens when we’ve already become one with someone (or many-one) else?😬
This is a conversation I had with a 70-something-year-old friend recently. She told me the story of how her marriage did not become great until she & her husband addressed the sexual soul ties of their past.
I was so intrigued by this beautiful, older woman who talked about this as if she was sharing a recipe - so freely because she wanted to share the blessing of what she’d learned. I leaned in & took mental notes as there is a season of my past that is sordid at best😳
I pondered her wisdom and longed for the soul ties I’d made to be cut. They are like bridges that eternally link us to the other person via sin & thus leave a wide open door for dark, impeding spirits to enshroud our lives.
Paul writes about sexual sin & oneness in his letter to the Ephesians. He specifically writes,
“Let there be no sexual immorality among you. Don’t be fooled by those trying to excuse those sins...
For you were once filled with darkness but now you have the light from the Lord. So live as people of light.
Take no part in worthless deeds of darkness, instead expose them.”
Just yesterday I learned how an eagle doesn’t fight a snake on the ground but rather changes the battleground by picking it up. The eagle brings it high into the sky where the serpent becomes weak, useless & vulnerable.
We can do this very same thing by taking our battles with evil into the spiritual realm where we have an army of angels by our side.
Whether you’re married or not, if you’ve dipped your toe into the waters of any kind of sexual sin, you now have a wide open door for enemy operation.
Y’all, life is too short to be held captive by past sin. I invite you to do what I did this morning & rise to the heavenly realm to cut any soul ties you’ve made with another. The blood of Jesus is enough to cover it all - confess, repent & eliminate the ruminating memories of former sin from your thought patterns. (See prayer below👇🏽)

Here is a prayer for cutting sexual soul ties:
Father God,
I thank you for saving me from destruction. I praise you for sending Jesus to die for my sins. Please forgive me for my sins against you.
Specifically, I confess that I ______________(details of the sin). I repent of those sins and renounce it now. Lord, please purify my heart from this sin, the memory of it and any associated fantasy I have entertained in my mind regarding it.
In the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of his blood shed on the cross, I cut myself free from any soul ties that may have been established with _______ (name (s) or specific objects). I commit him/her/them to the care of Jesus Christ for him to do with as he wills.
Satan, I rebuke you in all your works and ways. I rebuke any evil spirits that have a foothold in me. In the name of Jesus, I command you evil spirits to leave me and go directly to Jesus Christ.
Father, please heal my soul of any wounds resulting from these soul ties. Please reintegrate any part of me that may have been detained through this/these soul ties and restore me to wholeness. I also ask that you will reintegrate any part of the person(s) I sinned with that has been detained in me, and restore them to wholeness.
Thank you, Lord, for your healing power and your perfect love for me. May I glorify you with my life from this point forward. In Jesus’ name,
