Ok, today is random (but not so random) fact day. In fact, when you’re done reading this, you just might buy new jammies 🤗

I just read a verse in Leviticus 6 that refers to the official garments required of Jewish priests while they are on duty. All of their clothing (even their undergarments🤪) must be made of linen. It made me ask, “Why?”

I then remembered a verse I recently read commanding the Israelites NOT to wear linen & wool together. It seems like such a specific law so again I remember asking myself , “Why?”

Surely we serve a God of purpose & order, so why would He issue a seemingly happenstance law that carried no intention? Well, He didn’t.

As I dug a little deeper, I discovered a scientific study on the fabric of linen conducted by a Jewish doctor, Heidi Yellen, in 2003. Specifically, she studied the effect of the frequency of linen fabric on the human body.

A healthy human body has a frequency of about 100, whereas a diseased or dead person has a frequency of ~15. Here’s where it gets fascinating!

Consider the frequency of the following fabrics:

👉🏽Polyester, Rayon & Silk ~ 15

👉🏽Non-organic cotton ~70

👉🏽Organic Cotton ~ 100

👉🏽Linen is a whopping 5,000!

Why is that important? Because the study results indicated that if we wear clothing that carries a frequency lower than our body (100), it will lower our body’s frequency & have a negative impact on our health!

On the flip side, if we wear a higher frequency fabric than our body’s frequency, it raises our body’s energy & promotes health!

It makes you wonder if God specifically requires the priests to wear linen fabric because it is a healing-promoting super fabric???

One more tangible tidbit…remember the instruction NOT to wear wool & linen together? That is because both of the fabrics carry a frequency of 5,000, but when worn together, the frequencies cancel each other out to zero!

Y’all, sometimes I dread the details of Leviticus. It seems tedious & pointless until I remember Who wrote it! God’s Word is packed full of tangible wisdom that is just waiting to be discovered, We just need to dig in & let Him speak to our whys🤗 Ready to get some linen jammies? #OneYearBible

In this day & age of visual success, the pressure to succeed can feel suffocating. My mom used to warn me not to have champagne taste on a beer budget 😂 It’s so easy to fall into the trap of fancy things & fake security. Everything might look amazing on the outside, but on the inside, it might feel like a house of cards ready to fall!

What if I told you that you don’t have to hold it all together? In fact, how might your heart rejoice & grip soften if I told you there is Someone who came specifically for people who not only miss the mark, but KNOW they can’t hit it on their own?

That’s what Jesus did.

The Pharisees followed Him wherever He went-not to learn-but to see how they could trap Him.

Over

& over

& over again, they came at Him like a machine gun with accusations.

And His response ALWAYS silenced them in their tracks. He could’ve blasted them out of the water at any point, but He was patient, perhaps with the hope that their hearts might soften?

The Gospel offends the proud, but is a sweet smell of salvation to the humble. Time & again Jesus sat with “sinners & tax collectors”. The very word sinner means to miss the mark!

Whether we admit it or not, we are ALL in desperate need of a physician who can heal our hearts! Jesus tells the proud Pharisees, “I have come to call NOT those who THINK they are righteous, but those who KNOW they are sinners.”

At one point, a man is in need of healing, but it’s the Sabbath. Can’t you see the stoic Pharisees salivating to see if Jesus would break the Law. The point of breaking was upon them, but it wasn’t about the Law, it was about relationship. Jesus saw their hard hearts & was moved to grief by their refusal to not know their own sin…

Mark 2:15 tells how, “There were many people of this kind among Jesus’s followers.”

What kind? The sinner kind that know they cannot meet the mark without Him.

As I read about the people who left everything to follow Jesus, I don’t picture white knuckling, pulling up bootstraps or striving. I see a humble following & restful reliance on The One Who calls & goes before.

He IS The Way, you know? He will make a way that meets the eternal mark & all we need do is humbly follow.

What are you willing to do to bring someone before Jesus?

👆🏽That’s what bubbled as I read about the throngs of onlookers who follow Jesus wherever He went. When He’s at the home of Simon Peter, the ENTIRE town gathered at the doorway to watch Him heal the sick & cast out demons!

A few days later, a similar scene unfolds. The home is so packed full of visitors that nobody can even enter!

There is a group of guys, however, who are determined to bring their friend before Jesus👉🏽so much so that they dig a hole in the roof & lower the paralyzed man right before Jesus!

I always wonder about the homeowner & if they were upset about the damage?

Moments later He tells the man to stand up, pick up his mat & walk. And not only did he get up, it says he JUMPED!

Can’t you see it?! This man who may never have walked a day in his life can now jump! And he wouldn’t have come face to face with The Healer had it not been for the fortitude & faith of his friends!

Y’all we ALL know people who are paralyzed in some form or fashion - stuck in insecurity, held by depression, or maybe just trembling in circumstantial fear? Well, we also KNOW The One who can free them from the enemy’s paralyzing lies!

The question is this:

Are we willing to do whatever it takes to bring them before The One who can command them to walk & cause them to jump for joy?

Oh Father, we are born for such a time as this! We don’t want to be onlookers that simply stand in the doorway watching what You do! We ARE Your Tent of Presence! We ARE mobile Kingdom Carriers who bring the aroma of heaven on earth!

Sometimes bringing people close to You requires sacrifice! It cost those homeowners a roof! It cost the 4 friends some sweat & the risk of looking foolish!

Let us remember Who we follow & do WHATEVER it takes to bring people before our King!

Offense is the perfect opportunity to introduce Jesus as the Author of forgiveness! Unknown outcomes are the perfect time to introduce Jesus as The Way & shaky times are a GREaT time to bring them before The Rock Who never shakes!

Jesus, make us aware of the paralyzing needs around us so we may introduce many to the only One Who can meet them!
