So the Lord’s doing a funny thing today. I normally  write AFTER I’ve read my One Year Bible, but this AM He led me to begin writing when I saw a note from my son. It’s not a fancy, expensive card, but it warmed my heart to pieces.

There’s something about a hand-written note that will always touch the deep places-even if the penmanship is worse for wear😂 I must take my time with writing as the mixture of cursive & racing thoughts don’t always translate on paper.

I have a little photo album of my husband’s, “Dear Baby” notes from over the years-I even use one as a bookmark in my Bible. My “special bin” is mostly comprised of handwritten notes from sons, parents & friends. I often wonder why I keep them because it’s not like I often go back & read them, & when I do, my eyes leak like Niagara Falls!

I think I want to remember them & what they took the time to write, pen to paper, in case they go Heavenward before me. They’re like a written treasure, filled with vision, hope, encouragement, words of life & sometimes Truth for areas I could grow.

Y’all, I finally realized where the Lord’s leading…He’s written the greatest, Truth-filled love note for all people of all time! His Word is a ready & ALWAYS relevant word just waiting for us to revisit His sweet something’s.

Ok, I’m opening His Word now. BRB.

Wow! The NT reading begins with:

“I (Jesus) tell you the truth, those who listen to my message & believe in God who sent me have eternal life.”

What?! That’s THEE Word speaking about HIS Word with a promise! For the life of me, I cannot fathom why someone wouldn’t want to be in His Word on the daily!

In all my years of reading, this is the 1st year, since 06.01.2021, that I haven’t missed a day. This has by far been one of the hardest years of my life AND the hope in my heart wouldn’t be what it is without The Word!

The Father’s written a love note specific to you for this very season you are encountering! Open His Word & let Him whisper sweet something’s to the tender places, let Him cast vision, speak encouragement & even correction! He’s the Source of all we’ll ever need, we just sometimes forget to take The Word at His word. Will you read His word today?

Years ago, just two years into our marriage, I asked the Lord for a child. We’d our first 2 sons before we were married, & my heart longed for another. For some reason I couldn’t get pregnant. I did all the research, graphed my temperature, took medicine, etc. & then one day the Lord whispered a question:

“Do you want another child, Kimberly?”

My quick response was, “Do you not see all the things I’m doing to TRY to have a child? Of course I do, but I can’t make it happen.”

“Exactly,” was His direct reply. He followed it with another question:

“Do you trust Me?”

“Of course…why do you ask?”

“If you trust Me, toss away the striving…the temperature graphs, the medicine & yes, even the thermometer. Let it be a faith offering. I have a wonderful future for your family, will you trust Me with it?”

I cried for a long time as the act of tossing the stuff felt like giving up, but really I was letting go & letting my Lord take the reigns. I remember the moment I finally did it. It’s like a ten ton boulder fell from my shoulder. No more fear, no more striving, just expectant trust that His perfect plan WILL happen in His timing & through His way.

I read two stories that caused that memory to surface today. One of a barren woman who begged God for a baby, “and in due time, she gave birth to a son.”

The other was of the crippled man by the pool of Bethsaida…he’d waited 38 years to be healed, and when Jesus asked him if he’d like to get well, the man simply said, “I can’t sir…”

EXACTLY!

We do not have the power in & of ourselves to heal ourselves, fix our finances or repair a relationship! My friend just texted yesterday that we are destined to raise the dead…by the power of The One Who conquered death!

We have divine power available to us AND we serve a God Whose timing is impeccable! We cannot operate in His power apart from His will. Everything WILL happen IN DUE TIME, according to HIS will & through His perfect ways.

Are you waiting for something today? Maybe it feels like now-o-clock & you’re tempted to do something about it? Remember this: You can’t but we serve a God who can! Let go, lean in & let the Lord lead. I did & He blessed me with two more sons 💞

Anything we fear more than the Father will likely become a cesspool of stress. That thought socked me in the gut first thing this morning as I read Proverbs 14:27. The verse that promises life and protection if we fear the Lord. In fact, it says that fear of the Lord IS a life-giving fountain.

The visual that pops is a chocolate fountain - I think they look better than they taste😂 But that kind of ooey, gooey, non-stop, sweet goodness of life is sure to be ours when we choose to fear Him more than anything else we face.

And yet, for some reason, I can tend to sit, soak and begin to sour in a cesspool of stress, forgetting about the life that follows when we fear & follow Him first!

The word for fountain means a wellspring. It is it’s own source, whereas a cesspool is a covered hole for receiving runoff water or sewage🤢

Quite the visual, right?

When we are walking through a scary season, it can be easy to sit in cesspool life. Fearful things can make it hard to remember to turn to Jesus as our Source of Peace, life, strength & even joy! He IS our wellspring of Living Water Who will always refresh us even if circumstances do not change. His Word is always a ready-word that is relevant to whatever we are facing!

To fear Him means to revere Him exceedingly more than the sewage that seems to surround us, knowing that He is the only One Who can do something about it.

Father, we thank you for the fearful things that unfold on the daily as they serve to turn our gaze to our Source of life. Thank You that fearing You first protects us from the snares of death that come from fear-driven decisions.

Help us to make time with the fountain of life in our life! Your will and Your way can be discovered in Your Word! Speak to the scary places through the assurance of Your Word. You are the Source of any resource we will ever need! Holy Spirit, guard us from cesspool life & lead us in reverential fear to the Fountain of Life-giving Water!
