I wonder if anyone is like me this morning, in need of God’s reminder that, “It’s handled?”

I don’t what what “It” is for you, but I could fill in the blank with a few things 😉

Maybe you are waiting with great anticipation, maybe even with a little fear or trepidation, for a very tangible answer to a long-awaited prayer?

The writer of Psalm 85 speaks promise and caution to those of us who are waiting on God to align our circumstances with our beliefs.💞

When we’re waiting for healing to happen, money to come, reconciliation to unfold or opportunities to arise, we can rest assured in the very Presence of Peace, knowing that He will make a way!

Verse 8 promises that when we listen carefully to what God alone says, (verses what the world screams or our emotions bellow), our peace is directly impacted!

It also warns us that when we turn our ear to anything or anyone but Him, we open the door to become tempted to return to our “foolish ways”.

We’ve no need to fear or to try to figure things out, for our faithful Father promises His peace (that exceeds all understanding) to guard our hearts while we wait on His perfect timing.

So I invite you to join me today and take Him at His Word, trusting that “It’s handled.” 🤗

Have you ever wished you had a fast forward button so you could zoom past an appointment or circumstance in life? I have one today. Those moments can feel like an approaching storm when the thunder begins to bellow from the clouds overhead.

It makes me think of a fascinating fact I learned about eagles this week & how they respond to a storm. When other birds sense an approaching storm, they head for cover. But an eagle? This regal bird perches on the edge of his massive nest with eager expectation for the wind & rain to arrive! And when it does, he extends his wings with a big whoosh  & wields the  currents of the storm winds to his advantage. His wings may tire, but he keeps them in a locked position as the circular winds push him higher & higher, until he finally ascends to the pinnacle of the impossible - soaring above the storm! It is far above the ruckus below where the gleam of the sun begins to warm his wings...

Can you picture it? It kinda makes me teary thinking about it...probably because my knee jerk reaction when storms arise is more like the little birds who dart about ducking for cover.

And yet, we need not skirt a hardship or fast forward through anything because much like the regal eagle, we, as royal sons & daughters of The Most High, can soar with ease at the pinnacle of the impossible!

Isaiah promises this in 26:3 where he writes,

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You!“

We cannot control the storms that come, but we do have a choice - will we react like the frightened little birds or respond with eyes like an eagle, fixing our gaze on The One who uses the hard things in life to draw us near to Him. I want to soar high above this storm & allow The Son to warm my wings! 🦅 How about you!

I watched a show recently where the main character, Barry, can travel back in time. His mentor exhorts him not to do so because it may create an alternate timeline wrought with consequences.

Barry eventually gives into temptation & travels back to save his mom from a tragic death. He enjoys the gift of her presence, but suddenly begins to lose memories of his former life. He eventually tries to fix the mess he’s made only to discover that he‘s  created two more timelines & a whole lotta mess!

Kinda funny, but that quantum physics stuff popped in my thoughts when I read a letter from Paul to the Galatians. He’s talking about people pleasing & writes,

“Obviously I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal I would not be Christ’s servant.”

It reminded me of a convo I had with one of my sons  about the timeline theory & Christ’s Lordship.

Our Creator God has THEE most perfect timeline planned for our lives, & we can stick with His storyline, or like Barry, please ourselves (or others) by writing our own.

God’s trajectory for our future holds His best laid plans, but sometimes, in a moment of temptation, we step out from under His Lordship & start writing our own.

✨When we make decisions outside of His will & His way, however, history He didn’t intend will happen.✨

There are many decisions I’ve made that I wish I could highlight, click & delete; decisions that carry consequences to today. Unlike Barry, however, I can’t travel back in time to change them.

What I can do, however, is step back under the power, protection & provision of my Savior. I can allow Him the supreme position of Lordship & trust Him to lead The Way forward.

I’ve written it before, but it bears repeating: we are always a slave to something-ultimately to self, sin or Savior; we just gotta choose which master we’ll serve!

Father, pleasing self or others not only leaves us wanting for more, it creates a timeline You didn’t intend. Holy Spirit, guard us from the goal of momentary good things that keep us from God things. We turn our hearts to You this morning & allow You the perfect position of Lordship over our lives! We aim to please You alone!
